The human heart cannot be denied. Will never be silenced. Will beat louder and louder until it deafens the ears of those who refuse to listen to the truth.

Support_Gay_Marriage.jpg I have very strong views on politics. I know what is right and wrong to me, and I have things decently worked out as to why in my head. Verbalizing such beliefs, however, is virtually impossible. I've never been the most articulate person, and I really need to sit down and work these things out if I'm going to get into an arguement about them. Since my family is so political, and many disagree with each other severely, I usually don't argue, but instead run as far away as I can when the "discussions" start. That's why I freak out whenever any real debate begins, like the fight that occurred on my blog about this time last year between Liz and Dave.

This is why I love that there are two people in my life who are very articulate and good at getting across what I too believe. Peter, most of you know, has developed very strong views on things and he sometimes writes about them in his blog. My brother always surprises me though. Yes, he worked in politics for 2+ years and has learned a great deal. But I'm still proud of him. He's just read this book God's Politics: How the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It by Jim Wallis, and basically what I'm getting out of what my brother thinks of this book is this: Terrorism is certainly our #1 problem, with poverty being #2, but if we fight poverty around the entire globe (being that this is the first time we could actual stop this problem in history as we know it), terrorism will stop, or at least slow down. This quote of his is also great:

A real commitment to global poverty would be our best long-term solution for eradicating terrorism, and the plight of the poor is mentioned 3,000 times in the Bible to boot. (Spoiler alert: that's a lot more than they talk about gay marriage.)

We all know my views on gay marriage, make them all civil and give it to everyone. Who am I to say that certain people can't get married? If it's wrong in the eyes of God, I'm sure He'll do something about it (if in fact there truly is a God, or at least one who cares about this type of thing). It is not anyone's place to tell others what they can and cannot do, as long as no one is being hurt (and no one is in this case!).

Anyway, it's nice to see that others are doing the dirty work for me, so I can listen to them and agree most of the time, and have a better understanding of why. I just hope my brother continues these good posts once he enters law school.
