Celebrity Deathmatch: Paris vs Paris

I ran out of both shampoo and conditioner while I was in RI, so I bought some more of each at Stop and Shop. I decided to try the "dry hair" version of my usual brand. It totally sucked, I felt all greasy after every use. paris_latsis.jpg So today in the shower, I go to pick it up, but I picked up the conditioner bottle accidently. I put that one down and picked up the other bottle, also conditioner. Hmmm...So I've been washing my hair with conditioner for three days. I washed my hair twice with some old stuff, and finally I don't feel greasy anymore. Isn't that just gross? I hope no one minded that they dealt with a totally disgusting person lately. Like my husband, co-workers, friends....

I think Fat Tony is getting off on happy feet if you know what I mean. He will sit on my lap and do it for like 10 minutes, purring like a maniac cat at the end. I've had other evidence of this twice, I'm rather concerned. I mean, it's one thing to love your human, just don't *love* your human. I think I need to put a stop to happy feet on mommy asap.

You didn't hear about the polar bear?

Lost_4.jpg More Lost news. Under travelers in the link I gave yesterday, put in the numbers from the hatch: 4 8 15 16 23 42. Hit enter, and you get the plane's seating chart. Hit the numbers again below and the teaser trailer for the next season comes up. I hope ABC keeps up with this stuff all summer long, I don't know how else I'll survive the wait. Oh wait, Half-Blood Prince comes out next month. Nevermind, I'll be preoccupied for a few days in there.

Auburn Road

IMG_1323-1.jpg This weekend on our way back from Stone Ridge, my mom and I decided to look at Green Hill, where we used to live. Our house looks more or less the same, although it's a prettier color now. There were two boys outside playing catch that didn't like us taking pictures of the house. What kind of world do we live in where total strangers can't drive up to a house all of a sudden and take pictures? No trust nowadays, no trust at all. The tree that we got from Matunuck Elementary School that we planted when I was about 10 must be 30 feet or taller. There's a weird new deck coming off the side of the house. And those damn overweight kids playing ball, it was just weird.

We then drove farther up the road, and we looked at the house that I used to play in when the company building it wasn't there. Next door was Kelly Badger's house, who was my best friend in elementary school and totally dropped me as a friend the first day of junior high. Her mother, who always hated me because I was a "bad influence," was out on her deck, and when I saw her I proceeded to speed up very quickly. Anyone who thinks I'm a bad influence is mental. I may not have a career, but I had straight As my entire life and never did anything bad at all. I'm not sure anyone in that family even went to college.

The entire neighborhood was the same except for a new random dirt road going off Canterberry and bigger trees. Most of the same people still live there. That was rather depressing. I can't imagine living in the same house for 25 years or more. At least not one of those houses. I guess it's a good neighborhood though, quiet and safe and all of those boring things. Great place to raise kids. I would never raise my kids in Green Hill. They would never leave and never do a damn thing with their lives. I am very very lucky that I actually got out. I still miss my house though.

Theresa fell down the stairs. Theresa fell up the stairs

lost.jpg
Another blog pointed me out to a flash website for Lost, Oceanic Airlines to be exact. I think from ABC and Disney are behind it, not some fan site. It has a lot of clues, things hidden, and I found a hidden url that brings you to a message board that is so much better than others on the web. This one actually has good theories, not the same old purgatory crap. Here is one thing that I found on the Oceanic site. I looked up what mapinguari are, they seem to be a folklore creature, like Yeti or the Lock Ness Monster. There is also a website The French Lady. It has riddles on it that everyone else has noticed are very relevent to the show, although I haven't really looked at them yet.

Theories I like: Rose's husband and others from the back of the plane are on another part of the island, Hurley owning the box factory that Locke works in (meaning more connections between the characters), and everyone on the island wants to start over and that's why they were chosen.

lost2.jpg
Here's something that I got off of Greek Chat of all places:
The second season of LOST will shift focus from the current cast of characters to the survivors from the back end of the plane. There are only 4 or 5 sruvivors among them, Rose's husband. That's the lady that was sitting next to Jack when the plane went down who keeps insisting that her husband survived. However, he disappeared into the jungle a few days after the crash though no actor has been cast for his role yet. Among the survivors from the back end is Michelle Rodriguez from S.W.A.T. fame. Now speculation & rumor is that when Michael, Walt, Sun, & Sawyer are out on the boat, the blip they see on the radar is in fact the survivors from the back half of the plane. There is much more but I don't know if I should post it or not b/c it is merely rumor for now.

If you are interested in seeing what I've dug up about the numbers on the hatch, click on the link below. There's a whole lot.

And 6 speed transmission. 32 + 8 + 400 + 350 + 4.4 + 6 = 800.4. 4 & 8. The first two numbers of the sequence and the original number of survivors.

For those of you living in Ohio, watch out for this sex offender. Of course, I wouldn't get close enough to find out he was a sexual offender. No brainer here.

I thought about the Army

mjDiva.jpg

I had a great weekend in Quahog, RI visiting my mom and other family members, but it's nice to be back in MA. As I'm sure many who have been near me recently have noticed, I don't really like being "on" lately. I just don't have the energy for it. I would much rather be myself, even if that includes being bitchy, whiny, and hungry. Now that I'm going to be quitting my job and will be much less stressed (as well as having much less human interaction), I'm hoping this problem corrects itself. If not, I am going to try harder to be a nicer person, or at least more laid back than I've been lately.

dog.jpg Yesterday we took a trip to Stone Ridge, a retirement community that my grandparents are moving into in September. The place is so beautiful, and they have a beauty salon, game and computer room, workout room, convenience store, cafe, library, as well as a huge dining room. The apartments are nice, although the one my grandparents are getting is a little small for the two of them and their freakishly huge dog Dugan (who also bit my mom this weekend, but that's another story). If I get the $300,000 or whatever the amount is saved up, I think I'm going to move in with them. I'd love to stop cooking and have everything that I need under one roof.

Peter makes the best ice tea in the world. He made a syrup to add to the tea instead of sugar because the syrup dissolves, and it is so much sweeter than what you get at a restaurant. I love it. I want to bring it to some event, but since everyone I know is an alcoholic (myself probably included), I don't think the drink will fly too well. Why would people drink ice tea when they could drink good cold beer? Or wine or martinis or best of all-scotch!

Crap with a star!

Here's some pictures of our trip to Stowe. I took a ton, be happy you only have to look at these ones.

This is where we stayed, at the Miner's suggestion. Our first room was directly over the bar which had loud music, so we moved rooms after that first night to the third floor.
IMG_1097-1.jpg

My pancake from the Dutch Pancake House. It doesn't look great in this picture, but it was wonderful.
IMG_1104-1.jpg

Inside Starbucks on Church St in Burlington. It was much hotter than we expected it would be that day, so we went here to cool off and have some tea.
IMG_1107-1.jpg

This was a guy playing his banjo on Church St. We wanted to give him money, but there was no where to put it. His banjo case was closed. So we took pictures instead.
IMG_1112-1.jpg

This guy had all this stuff on his bike but didn't seem to be selling it.
IMG_1119-1.jpg

View of NY and Lake Champagne from Burlington.
IMG_1129-1.jpg

More of the lake, this time by the boardwalk.
IMG_1136-1.jpg

Us by the lake.
IMG_1152-1.jpg

Magic Hat, where we finally got our tour. The tour wasn't nearly as big of a deal as I was hoping for. We watched a video, listened to our tour guide who seemed to have had some beer and I couldn't fully understand, and then watched as they cleaned up after the bottling process.
IMG_1164-1.jpg

Nice view in Stowe.
IMG_1175-1.jpg

Van Trapp family lodge, one of the more expensive hotels in Stowe. Has a beautiful view and lots of cows nearby.
IMG_1181-1.jpg

This was where we went on the wine tour, which was similar to the Magic Hat tour without the video. Fortunately, we tried a lot of wines, buying two bottles each of Dandelion, Elderberry, and Rhubarb. The winery was about 10 miles out of Montpelier, the last two being up a mountain on a dirt road. Seemed creepy until we actually got there.
IMG_1193-1.jpg

The capitol building at Montpelier. Was very pretty, but the city was very boring after Burlington.
IMG_1201-1.jpg

So that's all I will bore you with. I have tons more pictures, but I'll save them for another time. Today I'm going down to RI to see my mom and other relatives. Maybe I'll have more pictures to bring back! In case I am unable to post while I'm away, I'll leave you with three links.

Blogebrity, where Raymi is a B and Tony Pierce and Zach Braff are A's. I was accidently left off.
Romance novel spoof, which are all very similar to what I receive at work.
T Shirt Hell, probably my favorite new t-shirt site. I'll probably buy something soon, I'll let you know what I think about the company.

This is the most uncomfortable coffin I've ever been in.

nostrils.jpg

Since so few people read this blog, and I don't really care what anyone thinks anyway, I've decided to tell the truth here: I thought I was pregnant, and I found out Monday that I'm not. I am disappointed to say the least. Sure, being married with no kids is great. I can do whatever I want when I want to, but I think about being pregnant all the time. I am really looking forward to that time in my life, but I'm going to try hard to continue forward with my life regardless of what goes on in the baby front. If I obsess over this, I think I will totally screw myself. Whenever you want something to happen really badly, it doesn't. At least not right away. Look at moving up to Boston, it took us a year to actually do it. So I'm going to continue to lead my wonderful life, and if I am lucky enough to get pregnant soon, then great. But if not, I have a perfect life anyway.

I'm decided to make some changes to make myself happier and to stop waiting for the big P, the biggest being I'm probably going to quit my job. That is really hard for me to say, there are a ton of great things about work, especially the people I work with. But I'm not getting anything out of it, at least not besides the money. I come home physically and mentally exhausted every day, and for the last few months my job hasn't even been fun anymore. I thank upper management for that. I have no idea what I will do next with my life, but I don't feel I can figure that out while working at BN. So Monday I will probably give my notice. For the next month or two I am not planning on looking hard for a new job. I don't need to, and it would be nice to get my life and Peter's more in order. I do plan on working again though. One option is to become an optician and to start looking into an apprenticeship. Another is to find something else that I like to do. I have no idea what that could be, but the idea excites me. I'm asking for everyone's support here. The last time I didn't work, a lot of people gave me shit, as if I have to work in order for my existance to have any value. Please remember that I have a husband that makes enough money so that I don't need to, and that running a household does take a lot of time and effort, at least if it's done the right way. I'm becoming more sensitive about this topic, so when people make fun of me it's not quite as funny as it once was.

Wow, what a diary time post. How whiny. To make it up to you, here's the ring tone dancer.

Here I go again on my own

uriah.jpg

I was on the bus in 8th grade on a normal day when we stopped at a new house. Two people I'd never seen before got on, a girl and a boy. They sat in the front row together, about four in front of me. The boy was the best looking person I'd ever seen in my life. I stared at him for the entire ride to school and hoped for the rest of the year that he'd appear again. At the end of the year he came with the high school band to talk to the 8th graders about joining the next year. I'd quit the band at the end of 7th grade so I didn't get to hear this talk. However, I found out through friends the name of this boy. It was Uriah Duffy, older brother of Yes who was in my class (and later ended up on Road Rules). And he was a graduating senior. I was so upset that I wouldn't be able to see him the next year and mini-stalk him in the hallways.

whitesnake.jpg

Today, Peter found out what Uriah has been up to. He's joined the band Whitesnake. I didn't even know they still existed. I wonder if they'll have a new video out with a girl posing on a car hood. Hopefully it'll be a different model since the old one is probably 45 now. Or better yet, maybe it'll be Uriah on the car. A girl can hope. In reality though, it'd be nice to watch him from afar. He's supposed to be a great bass player, and he's still nice to look at.

Men don't make babies

Had a great time this weekend, and I'll post about it later. We're both exhausted and are going to bed. Just wanted to post about something that really got me upset right before we left that I didn't have time to post about.

notPregnantSm.jpg

According to this article, a girl was not allowed to participate in her graduation ceremony because she was pregnant. I do not agree with this decision, but I would not argue against it normally. However, the father of the child she is pregnant with was allowed to participate. Have I gone mad or does this make no sense? Last time I checked, it takes two people to get a woman pregnant, and if one person is to be punished for such a thing, the other should as well. This is totally sexist and outrageous, and I'm thinking about writing the school to complain.

City Pass

doggie.jpg

I'm thinking about buying a City Pass for Boston. They are only $39 a year, used to be double that. City Pass can be used at the Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, Skywalk Observatory (which I believe is one floor away from Top of the Hub-a not so subtle hint that my anniversary is coming up in a few weeks), Museum of Fine Arts, the JFK Library, and the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Since Peter and I have been thinking about going to these places for a while, I think I'm going to purchase a City Pass. Hopefully it'll make us go and stop being lazy on the weekends. We've been talking about going to the aquarium for a while now. The first time I tried to go, there was a fire and they weren't letting anyone in. The second time I got into a bus accidenton our way up. Best field trip ever. I tried to find the article on projo, but I have to pay for the whole thing. Here's what I got for free:

School bus carrying 46 in crash *The crash lands the South Kingstown school bus in a ditch, with a car mangled beneath it, and leaves another car smashed in the middle of Route 4.

[Kathleen E. Minahan]'s car went into a spin and was hit head-on by a car driven by Robin Leather, 32, of 25 Wilson Drive, Narragansett. The impact hurled Minahan through the passenger side window, but the empty vehicle spun on, swerving in front of the South Kingstown school bus.

The 14-ton bus slammed into Minahan's 1.5-ton car broadside and crushed it beneath its chassis. The momentum ...

cat.jpg

Not too exciting of an article. No mention of my picture either. Really, it was one of my worst pictures ever, I had a neckbrace on and felt horrible. My grandfather was in the picture too. All his friends asked how his grandson was doing after the accident. What an ego boost for a 16 year old girl without a boyfriend.

Today is my last knitting class. I'm so upset, I hope the schedule is up for the next round of classes. I want to take more. I'm not sure what to make next. I was thinking either another scarf in a different pattern and color or a hat. I think a baby hat would be pretty easy, at least it's small, so if it's hard I won't be stuck doing it for three months.

We leave in about four hours. I'm going to the Rusty Nail tonight for dinner, and the Dutch Pancake House for breakfast before taking my third tour of Ben and Jerry's and having a large ice cream. Oh, what an awful life I lead.

18 hours till takeoff

crest1.jpg

Won at trivia again last night. That's now three weeks in a row. Go us! There weren't as many teams, so we only won $25. It's the pride that counts though, not the money.

I find this story so interesting. It's like a movie. Someone who forgets his memory but can play the piano really well. Sort of reminds me of Dead Again. That was a wonderful movie, I just loved Kenneth Branagh in it. And Andy Garcia looked great. I was much younger when I saw it, I didn't realize that Branagh played both parts like Emma Thompson did. The goatee totally fooled me.

Tomorrow we're going to Stowe. Since we've been there before, we know what places to hit. The Dutch Pancake House is superb, very different than normal pancakes, you get only one but it's huge and filled with whatever you want in it. I had potato, onion, and cheese and it was like a McDonald's hash brown but better. We'll also do fondue again because Peter loved it. I guess the burnt cheese at the bottom is good, sort of like a delicacy he says. I guess I'll believe him, after all, cheese is good in any form, even burnt. We are thinking of going into Burlington, but I don't know what we'll do really. Maybe take a tour of Magic Hat. We tried to when we drove by on our honeymoon, but they didn't have tours until much later in the day so we skipped it.

Time to beg: Is there anyone who will look in on my kitties? Pretty please? With whipped cream and cherries and a rainbow on top? Tony really wants you to say hi to him, he needs attention.

PS Don't go to jail if you're a female minor, unless you want diseases.

Feed Me

mozz.jpg

I am a ravenous pig. Put food in front of me, and I eat it. Assuming it's not meat of course. I don't understand how someone can order something like poppers or mozzarella sticks and only eat two before offering them up to everyone else. Don't get me wrong for a moment here, I love that. I'm always up for free food, especially when it's something greasy and yummy that I never order because I feel too guilty. But how can people get by doing that? Are they trying to be friendly? Do they only want a taste? If so, how do they control themselves?

food.jpg

I remember a time when I was in a really bad mood for football. Peter stopped to get gas, and as I was sitting in the car, I realized I needed combos more than anything. I went and bought them, and when I got to football I couldn't even share. I got a small bowl and put a few in there and ate the rest out of the bag. They were so good, I didn't feel guilty for a second. Even though we are slackers and always forgot to bring food and beer to football. I'm so evil.

So tonight feel free to order whatever you want besides those damn chicken tender things. I'll gladly help you eat it all. Go Iron Monkeys!

If I judged people, I'd have no friends

IMG_1056-1.jpg

I had no breakdowns today. It was great. Work was good, Jack was back and suddenly we have lots more hours for receiving. There were actually four people receiving while I was doing returns. Totally different from a few weeks ago when it was just three of us expected to do everything.

I have a cavity on one of my premolars. I won't feel it for a few days, then all of a sudden I get that awful sharp pain. I need to get it filled, but my dentist Sarah just had a baby recently, so I doubt she's up for it. Maybe we'll ask her this summer. She's Peter's sister, so maybe he can work something out. It's great having a dentist relative.

As you can tell, my life is boring right now. We're leaving for Stowe in three days, I'm just killing time until then. Anyone up for feeding my cats? They have been keeping each other company lately, so a quick food check is all that is truly neccessary.

I leave you with a picture of a crossdressing Tony with his friend Gretchen.

Rules broken: 8

Yesterday we celebrated Dave's birthday, so we went to Tomb. It was neat, although I wish there were maybe two other rooms. And I would have rathered that we were just left in an almost totally dark room without any instruction, so we could have played around until we figured out on our own to push the buttons. And maybe if the floor fell down around us instead of the whole snake thing. I really like the hat, as you can probably tell. I also accidently took a picture of Kim's butt, and that got me thinking that I should start a butt blog (which is not supposed to sound like bug blog, but unfortunately does). This may have been Kim's idea actually. People never seen their butts, maybe my blog would get them to work out. Probably not though.

IMG_1068-1.jpg IMG_1069-1.jpg IMG_1071-1.jpg IMG_1074-1.jpg IMG_1075-1.jpg IMG_1076-1.jpg IMG_1077-1.jpg IMG_1079-1.jpg IMG_1080-1.jpg IMG_1081-1.jpg IMG_1082-1.jpg IMG_1085-1.jpg

Raymi has posted her own rules of blogging. I think I do every single one listed, but I don't really care. I blog because I like it. Yes, I want people to read it, but I think I'm pretty honest on here, so that also scares me. Actually, I don't think I name drop though, I don't really know anyone famous. The best I can come up with is that I'm related to Faith McNulty, who wrote the bestselling book The Burning Bed and also died about three weeks ago. My grandfather also wrote a bunch of books on folklore, and he's an expert on Benedict Arnold. Oh, my aunt once dated Tommy Lee Jones, or at least went on one date with him. And House was in my Uncle Mark's fraternity (Chi Phi). Yeah, so there I did it. Not too impressive. But at least there's one more rule broken. How exciting! Laura the anti-laid back girl who loves rules breakin the law!

Breakdown Part Duh

marylin.jpg

An imposter wrote the following:

We have to educate people about selecting new pets from shelters and stop buying these dogs at outrageous costs!! People are paying thousands of dollars in some cases for various breeds - and if they would just take the time to look elsewhere - shelters - rescue societies - they can find some wonderful and grateful pets.

I think we need to instead stop people from posing as Laura Kovacs and make them get a life. There are no others with my name out there, period. I am the only one. I am bigger than life, so the rest need to move on, they don't fit. However, for the record, I agree with the above statement for the most part. Too many people buy from breeders. Why spend so much money when there is an equally wonderful cat or dog at a shelter? All three of my cats were abandoned, and my dogs from childhood were all not wanted as well, and all have made the best pets.

As you can see from my title, I had another breakdown. Here I think I'm fine, but I'm just not. I have no idea what is going on, but I think it's hormonal. It's like PMS all the time. How Peter puts up living with me is a miracle. I just spoke to the Pope, and he's put Peter on the fast track to becoming a saint. Russ isn't far behind him.

One of my major problems is that I am totally the opposite of a laid back person. If I could just not let everything in the entire world upset me I'd be fine. But when I'm hormonal, every little thing is huge. Peter says our friends know that I'm wonky, as well as anyone who reads this blog. But it'd be better if I just wasn't this way.

These Baptists are stupid. Stupid. STUPID.

I would like to thank everyone who was nice to me during this hormonal period where I'm a total wreck and am freaking out all the time. I really appreciate the lack of teasing and whatnot.

lily-of-the-vallley.jpg

The rhododendron are out. Peter picked me some flowers. These are one of my favorite plants ever, if I ever have a house on a bunch of land, I just want tons and tons of them all over, and I would make a fort inside of them. I remember seeing this huge bush (or many bushes) of rhododendrons near my house as I was growing up. Across the street was a private area for the water company or something like that. We called it the management area. There was skunk cabbage and trails and a lake, tons of fun for kids to rough house in. We found a great trail that went all around the lake once, and at the other side there was a house. There were no roads that lead to the house, and it looked like no one lived in it although it was full of furniture and towels and other things like that. Really creepy. But there were tons and tons of rhododendrons surrounding it. You could get lost underneath. I remember hiding under there for a long time. Ever since that day, I think of those bushes when I see a rhodadendron bush. When we bored of the house, we tried to find the highway nearby. We saw Zach Norwood lived on the other side and was on his front yard. I called his name and hid, he had no idea what was going on. It was hysterical.

forgetmenot.jpg

As I was washing my hair in the shower today, I was rinsing my hands of the hair that had fallen out (which happens a lot at this time of the year-and you thought only pets shed), and I noticed a white hair. My first white hair. I made Peter hold it until I got out of the shower, and now I'm saving it. I also measured it, it's 11 and 11/16 inches long. How could I have a white hair that long in my dark long locks that no one has ever noticed before? I can't believe I'm getting so old to get white hairs. Could I be one of those people who go gray early? I can't get myself to the hair dresser to get my hair cut once every three months, I know I'd struggle to get there every few weeks to have it dyed. More likely, I would get lazy and have a skunks tail on my head. What an awful fate lies ahead of me. I'd be known as skunk girl at work. The high school students would be afraid to go into the receiving room to punch in and out.

We watched Ed Wood this morning. It was great. I can't believe the studio waited so long to put it out on DVD. If you haven't seen it, go rent it this instant. It has some of the best lines ever and Martin Landau also won an Oscar for his role of Bela Lugosi.

Defunker

I can only see men's shirts so far, but hopefully women's will come soon. I emailed to ask. The people who started this website also started Busted T's. The shirts aren't quite as good, but overall they aren't bad. At least they are different.

At one point today, Tony was doing major happy feet on me, with all four feet. He was laying on his side on my lap, doing this mostly on my stomach. He is so weird.

Celebrity Blogs

My new thing is celebrity blogs. I think they are interesting, makes these people seem like ordinary people. We all know the truth though, they are robots taking over the world, one movie and one song at a time. Here are some that are on my bloglines:

Dave Barry
Matthew Good
Family Guy
Alton Brown
Will Wheaton
Zach Braff
Rosie O'Donnell (I'll probably be getting rid of it soon)
Pamela Anderson
Daniel Negreanu
Paul Phillips

If you have any good ones that you'd like to suggest, please let me know! And yes, I realize that some of these people aren't really big celebrities or anything. They are celebrities to me, some I'm interested in, some not so much. But they are interesting when you have nothing to do because you've quit your job, which I haven't yet.

Behind a day

I finally saw the Chronicle of Narnia trailer, and it was good but nothing special. I hate when the world says something is great, and you finally see it and it's just ok. I try hard not to do that to other people. If something is great, it truly is. Like Harry Potter, Eternal Sunshine, or Interpreter of Maladies.

I had my knitting class again today, and it was totally awesome. I can't believe how excited I am about all of this. I learned how to circle knit (I think that's what it's called), using needles that are attached. I started a baby hat. It was really fun. I want to make tons of baby hats. I think after my scarf projects I'm going to do that next. I also get along so well with the owner Jackie. I could talk to her all day. Talking while knitting is a lot of fun, I want to join one of those knitting circles where women get together and knit and gossip. I swear I could knit all day long. I now have something to occupy my time if/when I quit my job.

There is a new Pride and Prejudice movie coming out, with Keira Knightly playing Elizabeth. I'm not too happy about this new development. The BBC version is *the* version of this movie, hands down. There is no Darcy that could ever beat Colin Firth, not in a hundred million years. After the mess that was Bride and Prejudice, I think they need to leave this movie alone for a while. If they really want to do more Jane Austen, why not do a big production of Persuasion. The BBC one was ok, but they could find a better actor to play Captain Wentworth.

I am having a nervous breakdown. Really. You should be worried. I may end up in a loony bin for a few months. If I disappear, that's where I am. Shoot, now if something actually does happen to me, like Peter sticks me in a freezer, you'll just think I've gone mad. Peter will be able to cover this up for years.

Wow that's dark. I'm going out for ice cream to lighten the mood.

Surreal Life it is

Worked sucked you know what today. Like really bad. It was my 3rd worst day there ever, the 2nd being recent as well. They just totally rearranged our room, I hate change and was thrown off all day. I have no idea where I'm supposed to put anything. And I'm still injured, so I can't go moving my boxes around either. It was bad.

capt.jpg

I can't wait for the Surreal Life 5 to start. I just love this show. I know I'm going to hate Omarosa, and Bronson Pinchot will probably be the voice of reason. So far I've heard that Andy Dick shows up and has to be thrown out, security wrestling him to the ground first, and Omarosa freaks when Janice Dickinson holds a knife and threatens to cut her hair. Sounds like a great season! Premiering Sept 4.

Fatty fat fat Part 2

IMG_1022.jpg

Ok, I am doing it. I am going to lose weight. I've been putting this off for about a year, but I'm slowly going back up. So now my new diet begins. I'm not going to be super strict, but I'm going to stop eating big portions and stop snacking. And most importantly, I'm going to weight myself every day. When I do that, I keep on top of my diet. I feel the number one reason I have fallen off the wagon is because I got lazy about weighting myself. With summer coming, now is the time.

Peter just played a poker tournament. He didn't make it but played well. I was knitting while he was playing. I'm almost done with my first roll of yarn (is it called a skeen???), and I'm thinking of starting my next either today or tomorrow. I have over a foot and a half of the scarf done, with only one mistake so far. After every row, I would eat a cracker, which was good motivation. I know, I just said no snacking, but Peter got them out. He ate most of them, I don't knit that fast yet.

Tony refuses to pose for a picture for me. I've been trying hard, he's just in the mood. Typical male. He is fond of my yarn, so I've been hiding it away in my 1154 Lill purse. The yarn doesn't match the bag, it's really annoying me. The grey scarf should go in the black bag, not the brown one! It's a travesty.

I'm seeing rumors that Brandon Flowers just got married to someone named Tana Munbkowsky. I didn't even know he was engaged. This is a sad day for all the Brandon lovers in the world (and there are tons). However, I hear he's Mormon, so maybe we all have a chance after all. I've decided to change my name to Lauradene Kaysional Tempest so he'll make me his second wife. You can do the same.

ETA: After researching the topic on the Mormon website, I guess you need to get permission from the Church in order to practice polygamy. Really, God has to sanction it. He allowed the early saints to practice it (told them to really) as well as Brigham Young. I hope Brandon asks God and the Mormons to allow him to have more wives, they'll be more likely to listen to him than to me.

Straight Flush

02_straight_flush.gif

I forgot to tell you all, I got a straight flush at poker this week. I think I won maybe a dollar, maybe two. But it was still an exciting moment for me, my first ever! I was even all in at that time (using a few chips from Peter because I had already gone out). What a fun hand to double up on!

Today was another lazy day of tv and movie watching. We saw Spanglish and Vanity Fair. Both were good but not great. I wanted a different ending for Spanglish, and I think Vanity Fair was over edited, I think a lot more was in the book that was left out. Of course, I haven't read it, so I don't really know. But it was sort of hard to follow. We kept pausing so Peter could explain things to me. Peter is still sick, it's disgusting really. I am beginning to wonder if he'll ever get better. Poor guy. He made the best mexican casserole ever last night, so he's not doing too bad.

Has anyone else noticed that everyone is having job issues right now? Both the Miners have new jobs, another friend was laid off, a bunch more people are looking, I'm even reading about this on other people's blogs. I feel like I should be looking too. If I wasn't so bad at interviewing maybe I would. But every time I go into an interview, I leave not wanting the job, and I think I may portray that. I'm also lazy, and I like most things about my job. If my manager wasn't so evil to us and my back didn't hurt, it may be pretty close to perfect. And I wouldn't have such big muscles in any other job, unless I worked at the gym.

From my brother, I find this map interesting. I'm still smarting over last November. Thank god the Sox won, the winter would have totally sucked if they hadn't.

Pampered Chef Party!

IMG_10101.jpg

Don't we all look happy, like we had a wonderful time? Don't you just wish you had bought something to support the Boston Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Phi because it means so much to Laura, one of your most loved friends? Well, you still can. Go to my cousin's website and search under Alpha Phi. They even have a BBQ Turner with a can opener for all you beer drinking men!

Do you like The Sweet Hereafter?

Who uses Netflix besides Dave and the Miners? I want to add more friends so I can see what they are watching. That way I know if my friends have good or bad taste, so I can strike up conversation at random moments with "Why the hell did you hate Thelma and Louise?" (For the record, I haven't seen it, but isn't there a Brad Pitt butt scene?) More importantly, there is a button to manage your friends, and since we only have two on there right now, I feel like a loser. I know I must have more than two friends who use Netflix, so out yourselves already.

As usual, I had an awesome topic to write about, but a silly, pointless one got in the way. I am so not deep.

Aggressive Poker Bitch

annieduke.jpg

I was super aggressive at poker last night, very different than the way I normally play. The last time we got together, I was super tight, folding almost everything. It was fun changing it around, I had a good time being the bully. I would apologize to Christina because she got the brunt of it, but in the end she took all my money, so I'm not sorry. The World Series is coming up soon, I really like paying attention to it online. Howard actually gets to a few final tables then. Poker on tv is more fun to watch when it's players you know. I prefer rooting for someone at the table.

Knitting Flowers

I loved my knitting class, it was so much fun. The woman who owns the store Jackie taught the class. I was the only person who signed up for this time, which was great because I got one-on-one instruction. She noticed when I messed up, taught me the right way to do it, and I think I get it. I'm now starting a scarf, it's gray. I'll take a picture when it actually looks like something. I can't wait to work on it.

I've found a new obsession to replace Naveen Andrews. Poor Peter, he needs to find one himself so I don't feel so guilty. My new 2nd most attractive man in the world after my beautiful husband is Brandon Flowers. He is the lead singer of The Killers, a new rock band that is awesome. Their album Hot Fuss is really good, I really like every song, which is rare. Mr. Brightside is what got me into the band, and into Brandon. He looks wonderful in the video, with his hair short and pushed up in front like a frat boy. I can't believe I like him, he's totally not my type. He's a skinny, metrosexual, pretty boy who is actually younger than me! Maybe this is part of my quarter-life crisis. June 6th they are coming to Lupo's, which I thought had closed. I haven't been there in years, I saw a lot of TMBG concerts there. Maybe I should go???

So I hurt my back and have been home all week. Peter has a virus and was home with me yesterday. I was soooooooo bored, it was wonderful to have someone to be bored with. We've watched all of our netflix movies, everything on tivo, and have actually started watching regular tv. Today he's back at work and tomorrow I try to go back as well. BN is suffering it seems, they actually stopped everyone from pulling returns. They haven't done that in a year. I hope they now realize how important I am, but they may think it's Jack instead since he's also out. I miss work, but I'm sure next week I'll be wishing I was home watching more commercials.

Rainy Saturday and Za

Peter wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I got an account at Hollywood Video in Arlington Heights, and we rented three movies. First was Meet the Fockers, which was an ok movie, nothing special. The first was very laugh out loud funny, but I wasn't expecting that from this one after reviews I'd heard. I'm glad I didn't see it in the theatre, but it was a good movie for a rainy Saturday. Next we saw The Incredibles finally, I think we were the only people to have never seen it. It was much better than Finding Nemo, I really liked it. But again, it was nothing too special. It's not like I'm going to buy it any time soon. Finally we saw Bridget Jones. It was just like Meet the Fockers, an average sequel, didn't make me laugh like the first one did. The fight scene was very funny, but Tivo had a clip of it when the movie was in theatres, so it was nothing new. Colin Firth is beautiful though, he should be in every romantic comedy. A Real World London cast member was in the movie too, Jacinda. Peter made peanut butter cookies in the evening which are wonderful as always, and I think he's starting to feel better. A day of doing nothing has been good for him.

I have come to understand that some people haven't tried Za yet. You are all idiots if you have not, I hate to insult you, but it's true. Za is an excellent restaurant. Everything is cheap, yet you get great unique food. I keep having this mexican inspired salad that has cheese, avocado, black beans, chips and more in it. They also have weird pizzas with potatoes and pears and other unusual things on them, but they actually taste excellent, it all ends up going together really well. If anyone would like to try going there, I am more than happy to go with, I could eat there every night.

Kappa Alpha Theta it is!

So I spent five minutes trying to figure out what sorority Koren Zailckas was in at Syracuse University. You may recall my rant about her portrayal of sororities, blaming hers for her drinking habits, even though she started her binge drinking at age 14. I was slightly concerned that Zailckas was in my own sorority, in her book she seems to know one of our chants by heart, and we are the only sorority mentioned by its real name. I was happy to find that this wasn't the case, she was actually a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Normally I would not disclose such a thing, since Zailckas obviously wanted to keep the group a secret by giving them a fake name. However, if I can find the group in a quick google search, then anyone else can too. Here is the article which includes a picture of her.

In the book, she would often mention the evil sorority next door that she and her sisters liked to torment (they were much more put together and I think she was jealous of them), so I looked up the address of Theta at Syracuse. They are at 306 Walnut Place, right next to 308, the home of my lovely Alpha chapter. She didn't like us. Her portrayal made her seem envious of us, that we were so put together and strong. Maybe she didn't get a bid like she wanted? Either way, it was good to hear something positive about my sorority.
